Hisar Court Grants Bail to Six Accused in Violent University Protest Case

A Hisar court on Saturday granted bail to six individuals who were arrested in connection with a violent protest at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology. The accused had been remanded to judicial custody on Friday after their arrest, marking a significant development in a case that has drawn political attention.

Details of the Arrests and Case Registration

According to police reports, eight persons were named in the case registered at the City Police Station. The accused include prominent figures such as JJP youth leader Digvijay Singh Chautala and INSO state president Deepak Malik. The police arrested Jitendra Sheoran, Vijendra, Gaurav, Tarun Goyal, Deepak, and Ravindra Kumar alias Ravi Ahuja, producing them in court on Friday where they were placed in judicial custody.

The case stems from a complaint filed by the university's proctor, Anil Kumar. The complaint alleges that the accused forcibly entered the university campus around 12:15 pm on Thursday, disrupting the academic environment and creating a ruckus at the Vice Chancellor's office. They are accused of causing damage to government property and even attempting to break the main gate of the VC office, which created panic among staff members.

Serious Charges and Political Involvement

The case has been registered under various serious charges, reflecting the severity of the alleged actions. In addition to Digvijay Singh Chautala and Deepak Malik, other named individuals include Harinder Beniwal, Harikesh Dhanda, Ajju Ghanghas, Ashish Kundu, and Rohit Soni, among others.

In response to the arrests, former deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, along with Digvijay Singh Chautala and party workers, reached the Hisar City Police Station on Friday. They demanded either the arrest of the remaining accused or the release of the arrested youths. However, no further arrests were made at that time, highlighting the ongoing tensions surrounding the case.

Court Proceedings and Bail Grant

During the hearing on Saturday, the court granted bail to all six accused who had been arrested. This decision comes after they were produced in court and remanded to judicial custody, indicating a legal process that is moving forward despite the serious nature of the allegations.

The protest and subsequent legal actions have underscored issues of campus security and political activism in educational institutions. The case continues to develop, with potential implications for future protests and legal precedents in similar situations.
