A tragic incident unfolded at Chirayinkeezhu railway station in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday afternoon. A 45-year-old health inspector died by suicide after jumping in front of a moving train.

The deceased has been identified as Praveen. He was a resident of Geethanjali, located along the Attingal–Thachurkunnu–Thenur road. Praveen worked as a health inspector in Kollam.

The incident occurred around 1.45 pm. Praveen allegedly jumped in front of the Korba Express, which was bound for Thiruvananthapuram at the time.

Railway staff and bystanders witnessed the event. They alerted authorities immediately after the incident. Chirayinkeezhu police reached the spot promptly.

Police shifted the body to the taluk hospital mortuary for an autopsy. They stated that the body will be handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities.
