Hazaribagh Procession Clash Leads to Stone Pelting and Injuries
A minor but intense clash broke out between local police and participants of a Mangala procession near Lebra Jamua at the Barkattha–Gorhar police station border on Tuesday evening. The confrontation escalated quickly, resulting in stone pelting that left five to six people injured, including several policemen on duty.
Official Statements Clarify the Incident
According to officials, the procession was halted by authorities because it lacked proper route permission. This initial stop triggered a scuffle that rapidly intensified into a brief but violent exchange. SDM Johan Tudu addressed the situation directly, stating that rumours of a communal clash were completely baseless. He clarified emphatically that the conflict was solely between police personnel and the members of the procession.
SDPO Ajit Kumar Bimal confirmed that an FIR will be lodged in connection with the case, underscoring the legal follow-up to the incident. Police acted swiftly to disperse the gathered crowd and seized several motorcycles from the scene as part of their response.
Situation Brought Under Control
Authorities have reported that the situation is now fully under control following the police intervention. The quick dispersal of the crowd and seizure of vehicles helped prevent further escalation. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges in managing public gatherings and enforcing regulatory permissions in the region.
