Hazaribag Police Intensify Anti-Drug Operations with Major Busts
In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Hazaribag police have arrested seven drug peddlers and recovered a total of 34 grams of brown sugar in two separate raids conducted over the past 24 hours. These operations, carried out in the Barkagaon and Barkatha police station areas, were part of a strategic initiative to dismantle supply chains that extend across district borders, as directed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Anjani Anjan.
Coordinated Raids Lead to Multiple Arrests and Seizures
The first raid took place in Barkagaon, where a special team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pawan Kumar apprehended six smugglers from the R&R Colony area of Dhenga on Friday. During this operation, authorities successfully recovered 26.5 grams of brown sugar from the accused, along with mobile phones and other incriminating items that are being analyzed for further evidence.
In a parallel operation within the Barkatha police station limits, law enforcement officials arrested one brown sugar trafficker near Kapka village on Saturday morning. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prashant Kumar confirmed that a thorough search resulted in the recovery of an additional 7.75 grams of the illicit substance, further disrupting local drug networks.
Strategic Focus on Cross-Border Supply Chains
These raids underscore the police department's heightened focus on targeting the intricate supply chains that facilitate drug trafficking across regional boundaries. SP Anjani Anjan emphasized that such operations are crucial for curbing the flow of narcotics into and out of Hazaribag, aiming to enhance public safety and reduce drug-related crimes in the community.
The recovery of mobile phones and other items from the suspects is expected to provide valuable insights into their operational methods and connections, potentially leading to more arrests in the future. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against drug peddling, with plans for continued vigilance and proactive measures.
This recent success follows ongoing efforts by the Hazaribag police to address drug-related issues, reflecting a broader trend of intensified law enforcement actions in the region. Residents have welcomed these developments, hoping for a sustained reduction in illegal drug activities that threaten community well-being.
