Haryana STF arrests 804 criminals in major crackdown

In a sweeping crackdown on organized crime, the elite Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police has achieved a significant milestone in 2024. From January 1 until recently, the force has apprehended a staggering 804 criminals, averaging over two arrests every single day.

Breakdown of Arrests and Criminal Profiles

The arrested individuals represent a serious threat to public safety. The STF has confirmed that among the 804 arrests, 118 are hardcore criminals with rewards on their heads. Furthermore, 470 are identified as gangsters or their active associates, while the remaining 216 are involved in various heinous crimes reported across the state this year. This data underscores the STF's focused approach on dismantling the backbone of criminal networks in Haryana.

Massive Weapons Haul and High-Risk Operations

The operations led to the seizure of a dangerous arsenal, highlighting the severe threat these groups posed. In 90 cases registered statewide, the STF recovered explosives and a wide range of firearms. The seized items include one IED (Improvised Explosive Device), five hand grenades, two carbines, 76 pistols, two revolvers, and 112 country-made weapons.

The year also witnessed 20 armed encounters between STF teams and criminals during high-risk missions. These confrontations were necessary to apprehend hardened offenders who resisted arrest and endangered lives. In these operations, four criminals were neutralized, and 26 sustained injuries.

Notorious Criminals Neutralized

The four criminals who were neutralized were involved in high-profile cases. One was a shooter linked to the murder of BSP leader Harbilas in Naraingarh, Ambala. Another, Romil Vohra, was implicated in a triple murder in Kheri Lakha Singh, Yamuna Nagar, and the killing of liquor contractor Shantnu in Shahbad, Kurukshetra. The other two, Ravinder and Arun, were shooters responsible for firing at the residence of Bollywood actress Disha Patani.

STF's Mandate and Continued Vigilance

Constituted specifically to combat organized crime and gangsterism, the Haryana STF also works in close coordination with national security agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Their mandate involves conducting concentrated searches and seizures across the state. The results from this year demonstrate the force's unwavering commitment to creating a safer Haryana by systematically dismantling criminal syndicates and deterring violent crime through decisive action.
