Gurgaon Police Demolish Illegal Constructions Linked to Notorious Gangster Kaushal Chaudhary
In a significant crackdown on organized crime, Gurgaon police on Wednesday conducted a large-scale demolition drive targeting illegal constructions and encroachments linked to three criminals, including the infamous jailed gangster Kaushal Chaudhary. The operation cleared government land across multiple strategic locations in the city, sending a strong message against unlawful activities.
Targeted Locations and Key Figures
The police action focused on encroachments in Harinagar, Naharpur Rupa, Fazilpur Jharsa, and near the Basai flyover in Sector 10. The most prominent target was Kaushal Chaudhary, a gangster with an extensive criminal record spanning several states. Police revealed that Chaudhary has a staggering 72 criminal cases registered against him, including 35 specifically in Gurgaon.
According to authorities, Chaudhary had illegally occupied HSVP land in Naharpur Rupa and constructed a dairy facility near his residence. This operation was being managed by associates Ravinder alias Tillu and Satish Kumar. Investigators allege that Chaudhary used intimidation tactics, threatening Ravinder and forcing him to pay approximately Rs 1.5 lakh per month as protection money.
Legal Proceedings and Criminal History
The demolition followed a formal complaint filed by the HSVP's survey department, which accused Chaudhary of illegal occupation and commercial misuse of government land. Based on this complaint, Sector 37 police station registered a case on April 6 against Chaudhary under relevant BNS sections for extortion and trespass.
Chaudhary's criminal empire extends far beyond Gurgaon, with cases registered against him in Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. His alleged offenses include serious crimes such as murder, attempted murder, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act. The gangster was extradited from Dubai in 2019 and subsequently booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act by the National Investigation Agency in 2022.
Despite his incarceration, police sources indicate that Chaudhary continues to operate his criminal network from behind bars. In 2022, his gang was involved in violent confrontations with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang over control of the lucrative liquor trade in Gurgaon, resulting in multiple shooting incidents.
Additional Criminal Allegations
Chaudhary's alleged criminal activities include:
- Being named in the murder of Youth Akali Dal leader Vicky Middukhera in Mohali in August 2021
- Masterminding the 2022 killing of international kabaddi player Sandeep Singh Nangal Ambian
Other Targets in the Demolition Drive
The operation also targeted properties linked to two other criminals with established histories:
- Mahendra Yadav alias Mahi from Uttar Pradesh
- Gajepal alias Bhajanlal from Fazilpur Jharsa
Investigations revealed that these individuals had encroached on public land to construct houses, dairies, temporary structures, and even slum clusters. These illegal constructions were allegedly used to collect rent and support organized criminal operations in the region.
Official Statements and Future Actions
Deputy Commissioner of Police Hitesh Yadav emphasized the department's commitment to combating organized crime, stating: "The drive is part of a zero-tolerance policy against organized crime and illegal encroachments. We will take all necessary steps to safeguard our residents and will take stringent action against anti-social elements." He added that such operations would continue as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order.
Police spokesperson Sandeep Turan provided operational details, noting that the joint action was executed by teams from Sector 31 police station, Crime Unit Sector 43, and Sikandarpur, in coordination with various government departments.
In a significant revelation, police officials disclosed that they have prepared a list of approximately 50 criminals involved in organized crime activities in the region. Authorities have warned that similar demolition actions will be taken against all individuals on this list as part of the comprehensive crackdown.
The demolition drive represents a concerted effort by Gurgaon police to reclaim public land and disrupt the financial networks of criminal organizations operating in the city. By targeting the physical infrastructure supporting these illegal operations, authorities aim to significantly weaken organized crime syndicates and restore public confidence in law enforcement.
