A 22-year-old man, identified as Abhishek, has been arrested by Gurgaon police in connection with a gunfight that occurred at a vegetable market in Tigra village on March 2. This arrest marks the seventh in the case so far.
Incident Details
According to police, the incident began when two men, Divesh and Praveen, had an argument that allegedly escalated into a violent clash between their families. Shortly thereafter, eight to ten men from Praveen's family arrived at the market and attacked Divesh and his father with sticks and also opened fire, leaving them critically injured. The assailants threatened the duo before fleeing the scene.
A police team from Sector 56 station arrived at the spot and recovered one live cartridge along with two empty shells.
Complaint and Investigation
In his complaint, Divesh's father stated that he had gone to the vegetable market with his son around 4 pm when a group of armed individuals arrived and assaulted them with sticks and other weapons, causing serious injuries. He alleged that the accused opened fire with the intent to kill, but the father-son duo narrowly escaped.
Preliminary investigation revealed a long-standing history of disputes between the families of Divesh and Praveen, which often led to tension.
Arrests Made
Praveen was arrested on March 2. Subsequently, six other accused—Rohit, Ritik, Rahul, and Pradeep—were arrested on April 2, and a juvenile was detained. Further investigation is underway.
Authorities are continuing to probe the matter and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
