Gurgaon man dies in accident after avoiding stray bull

A 35-year-old man lost his life in a tragic road accident in Gurgaon late Tuesday night after a stray bull suddenly appeared in front of his car on Basai Road. The victim, identified as Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Noorgarh village, was driving to the city with relatives to attend a wedding when the fatal incident occurred.

The Fateful Night and Accident Details

According to police, the accident took place between 12:30 am and 1:00 am on Tuesday night near Chandu Budhera. Visibility on the stretch was reportedly poor at the time. Kumar was behind the wheel when the animal emerged onto the road unexpectedly.

In a split-second decision to avoid hitting the bull, Kumar swerved sharply. This action caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The car then veered off the road and collided with considerable force into a streetlight pole. The impact severely damaged the car's bonnet.

Aftermath and Police Response

Mahesh Kumar sustained grievous injuries in the crash. His relatives, who were travelling with him, alerted the police and attempted to flag down passing cars for help. One relative recounted that Kumar was wearing a seatbelt, which trapped him in the damaged vehicle, preventing a timely escape. The passenger beside him, however, managed to get out just in time.

The three relatives suffered minor injuries and were discharged after receiving medical treatment. A team from the Farrukhnagar police station rushed to the spot and took Kumar to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Stray Cattle: A Persistent Menace

Police officials stated that the accident appeared to be caused by a sudden animal obstruction, a frequent occurrence on roads connecting Pataudi, Farrukhnagar, and adjoining rural areas. The family members have not alleged any foul play. Authorities have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

A senior officer highlighted that old stray cattle have become a significant obstacle for night commuters. This incident is not isolated. Just a couple of days prior, a biker died in Farrukhnagar after a nilgai (blue bull) appeared in front of his vehicle. Local residents confirm that sightings of nilgai have become common at night, consistently posing a threat to commuters.

Kumar's body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem examination. Police have stated that further inquiries into the accident are currently underway.
