A 35-year-old woman, identified as Deepa, tragically passed away on Sunday, succumbing to severe injuries sustained in a hit-and-run incident near Sohna Road in Gurgaon. The victim, who worked as a domestic help, was critically injured when a speeding motorcycle struck her on March 26.
Details of the Sohna Road Accident
The incident occurred as Deepa was crossing the road towards Pyramid Society in Sector 67, while on her way to work at a residential society. According to a complaint filed by her husband, Pramod Singh, a resident of Naya Gaon, he had dropped her near a temple and witnessed the accident firsthand. A motorcycle, being driven at high speed, collided with Deepa, throwing her onto the road and causing life-threatening injuries. The rider immediately fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.
Pramod quickly arranged a private vehicle and rushed Deepa to Park Hospital in Sector 47 for emergency treatment. Police arrived at the hospital after receiving information and collected her medico-legal case (MLC). Initially, a case was registered under section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to rash driving, at the Badshahpur police station.
Legal Actions and Investigation
Following Deepa's death on Sunday, police added section 106 of the BNS, addressing death by negligence, to the case. An officer stated that efforts are actively underway to identify and apprehend the accused rider. This tragic event highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and reckless driving in the area.
Separate Fatal Accident in Farrukhnagar
In a related but distinct incident, a 58-year-old man, Hari Kishan, also died on Sunday after being involved in a collision in Farrukhnagar. The deceased, a farmer from Sadrana village, was injured on March 27 around 4 pm near Suraj Dhaba in Sultanpur. Police reported that he was riding a motorcycle when a white Brezza car rammed into him.
Hari Kishan was taken to a private hospital with critical injuries but later succumbed during treatment. Authorities have identified the vehicle involved and are making efforts to trace the driver. A case has been registered under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (death by negligence) of the BNS at the Farrukhnagar police station.
