Major Fire Erupts at Gurgaon Furniture Shop Near Fuel Station, No Casualties Reported
A significant fire emergency unfolded in Gurgaon on Monday morning when a blaze broke out at a furniture shop located in Sector 89, dangerously close to a petrol and CNG pump. The incident triggered a massive emergency response from local authorities.
Emergency Response and Firefighting Efforts
Police officials stated they received information about the fire around 11 am. In response, seven fire tenders were immediately dispatched from multiple locations including Bhim Nagar, IMT Manesar, Sector 29, Udyog Vihar, and Sector 37. The firefighting operation was intense, with the blaze being brought under control after approximately two hours of concerted effort.
An officer confirmed that goods worth lakhs of rupees were completely destroyed in the fire, though the exact financial loss is still being assessed. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported from the incident.
Details of the Affected Premises and Cause
The fire affected a complex comprising five separate warehouses owned by different individuals. The warehouse owners have been identified as Zaid Khan, Javed, Shad, Naushad, Zuber, Zahir, Asgar Khan, and Shamsher Khan.
According to preliminary police investigations, the fire likely originated from welding work that was underway in one of the warehouses for tin shed installation. Sparks from the welding allegedly ignited wooden materials, causing the fire to rapidly spread to adjoining units.
Rapid Spread and Safety Measures
The presence of wooden furniture and other highly flammable items stored in the warehouses contributed to the fire's rapid escalation. Thick, dark smoke quickly engulfed the surrounding area, causing significant concern among nearby residents.
Authorities implemented several safety measures during the emergency:
- Police cordoned off the affected area to ensure public safety
- Traffic was diverted to prevent congestion near the fire site
- The adjacent fuel station was immediately shut down as a precautionary measure
- A dedicated fire tender was stationed specifically to prevent flames from reaching the fuel station
Ongoing Investigation
Police officials have confirmed that a detailed investigation into the incident is currently underway. Warehouse owners are being questioned as part of the investigative process to determine the exact circumstances and potential negligence that led to the fire.
The successful containment of the blaze without any loss of life represents a significant achievement for Gurgaon's emergency response teams, particularly given the proximity to flammable fuel sources.
