Gurgaon Underpass Crash Claims Life of Young Engineer
A devastating car crash in Gurgaon's Golf Course Road underpass has resulted in one fatality and serious injuries to another passenger. The incident occurred just after midnight on Friday, when a Honda City carrying four employees of a Udyog Vihar company lost control and smashed into a divider.
Details of the Tragic Accident
The vehicle was traveling from Bristol Chowk towards Sector 56 around 12:30 AM. The group was on their way to drop one passenger at his Faridabad home when the driver, identified as Mohit, lost control inside the underpass. The car rammed into a divider at a section where barriers had been installed to prevent U-turns.
The impact was severe enough to completely mangle the vehicle, particularly on the driver's side. After colliding with the divider, the car spun sideways before coming to a stop in the middle of the underpass. Glass fragments and vehicle debris scattered across the roadway following the violent crash.
Victims and Their Condition
The deceased has been identified as Anil Kumar, a 30-year-old civil engineer originally from Neemkathana in Rajasthan. He worked with a private company located in Udyog Vihar. Tragically, his family had been preparing for his wedding scheduled for next month.
His colleague Mithlesh, who was seated beside him in the rear of the vehicle, sustained grievous injuries. He was immediately rushed to Paras Hospital where doctors admitted him to the Intensive Care Unit for treatment.
Two other colleagues in the car escaped with minimal injuries. Mohit was driving the vehicle with Bilal occupying the front passenger seat. Police confirmed that front airbags deployed during the crash, likely preventing more serious harm to these two occupants.
Immediate Response and Investigation
Local residents and passersby quickly rushed to the accident scene after hearing the crash. They found Anil Kumar lying unconscious on the road with visible bleeding. Despite attempts by bystanders to revive him, he showed no response.
Police teams arrived promptly after receiving alerts about the incident. Officers worked to secure the area and coordinate medical assistance for the injured. The severely damaged vehicle required a crane for removal from the underpass to restore normal traffic flow.
Investigating officer Chandgi Ram stated that authorities have initiated an inquest proceeding into the accident. The body has been sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Police are investigating whether alcohol consumption played any role in the crash, though this remains unclear at present.
The investigation continues as authorities examine all aspects of this tragic late-night accident that has left one family mourning and another hoping for recovery.
