The Gujarat High Court has issued a significant order, staying the arrest of a man involved in a contentious rape case. Further complicating the case, it was revealed that the relationship resulted in the birth of a child in 2013. The defense emphasized that the complainant only pursued legal action after the accused allegedly backtracked on his commitment to marry her. The victim, a 45-year-old woman employed as a receptionist at a hospital, has invoked provisions of the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, given her status as a member of the Scheduled Tribe community.

They highlighted that the complainant woman, who now claims victimhood, has a documented history with law enforcement. The defense argued that its primary purpose is to exert pressure on the petitioner under the guise of criminal prosecution, with the ultimate aim of wrongfully extracting a substantial sum of money. The court issued a formal notice to the police authorities, directing them to submit a detailed reply by July 9.
