Gorakhpur Police Arrest One, Book Four in RSS Worker Shooting Case
In a significant development, the Gorakhpur police have registered a formal case against four named individuals and successfully apprehended one suspect in connection with a violent shooting incident targeting a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker. The attack occurred in the Gagaha area late on Tuesday night, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Attack and Police Response
Acting promptly on a detailed complaint filed by the injured victim, law enforcement authorities have booked the accused under serious criminal charges. The police have intensified their search operations to locate and detain the remaining suspects who are currently at large. The incident unfolded around 8:30 PM when Radhamohan Singh, who serves as the manager of Leelavati Singh Smarak Inter College and is an active associate of the RSS, was returning to his residence on a motorcycle.
Singh had earlier attended a meeting at the home of RSS worker Chandramaul Pandey in Rakhat village. As he approached the vicinity of the Hukha Baba temple on the embankment in Kaithwalia village, he was suddenly intercepted by the assailants. According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged with the police, two individuals riding a motorcycle, identified as Anuj Sahni alias Gulli and Abhishek Paswan, allegedly opened fire at Singh without provocation.
Escalation of Violence and Victim's Escape
In a desperate attempt to stop the attack and protect himself, Singh tried to intervene. However, the situation escalated rapidly when two additional men, Omnish Yadav and Rishikesh Yadav, who were allegedly lying in wait at the scene, also began firing indiscriminately. During the chaotic exchange, a bullet struck Singh in the back, causing a serious and life-threatening injury.
Despite bleeding profusely and experiencing immense pain, Singh displayed remarkable courage and presence of mind. He managed to escape the immediate danger zone and reached the house of Santosh Yadav in Kaithwalia village. Upon his arrival, he raised a loud alarm, alerting the local villagers. The commotion and the gathering of villagers forced the attackers to flee the spot hastily, abandoning their nefarious plans.
Arrests and Investigation Progress
The police have confirmed that one of the accused, Rishikesh Yadav, has been arrested from his residence. Simultaneously, coordinated raids are being conducted across multiple locations to apprehend the other named suspects. In a twist to the investigation, the police are probing a potential larger conspiracy behind the attack. As part of this inquiry, they have taken into custody a former district panchayat member from Bhainsaha Buzurg for detailed questioning.
Senior police officials, including SP (South) Dinesh Puri, have assured the public that security measures in the area have been significantly tightened. Puri emphasized that strict and decisive action will be taken against all individuals involved in the planning and execution of this violent crime. The police are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and maintaining law and order in the region.
