Godda Court Sentences Three to Life for 2024 Minor Gang Rape
Godda Court: Life Term for Three in Minor Gang Rape Case

A court in Jharkhand's Godda district delivered a strong verdict on Monday, sentencing three men to life imprisonment for the gang rape of a minor girl. The crime occurred in November 2024, shocking the local community.

Court Imposes Life Term and Financial Penalty

The Additional District and Sessions Judge-I in Godda pronounced the sentence after careful consideration of the evidence. Along with life imprisonment, the court fined each convict fifty thousand rupees. The judge made it clear that failure to pay this fine would result in an additional six months of imprisonment for each man.

Additional Sentences Under New Legal Framework

The court did not stop at the life sentence. It handed down further punishments under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Each convict received six months of rigorous imprisonment under one BNS section. They also got two years of rigorous imprisonment under another BNS provision. Importantly, all these sentences will run concurrently, meaning they will be served simultaneously rather than consecutively.

Conviction Followed Thorough Legal Process

On December 20, 2025, the same court convicted the three men after finding them guilty under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The convicted individuals are Kundan Kumar Pasi, also known as Kundan Kumar Choudhary, and Mohd Rasid, both residents of Hanwara in Godda district. The third convict is Mohd Jabir, who hails from Chakmaja in Bhagalpur, Bihar.

Strong Prosecution Case Secured Justice

Assistant Public Prosecutor Md Javed Hussain played a crucial role in securing this conviction. He presented a strong and effective case on behalf of the prosecution. His thorough preparation and compelling arguments ultimately led the court to find the accused guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Recalling the Horrific Incident

The terrible event took place on November 18, 2024. Three youths waylaid a minor girl from a village while she was returning home from the Kartik Mela. They forcibly dragged her to a nearby orchard where they committed the heinous crime. Local police acted swiftly following the incident, arresting all three accused persons shortly afterward.

This case highlights the judicial system's commitment to delivering justice in crimes against minors. The comprehensive sentencing reflects the seriousness with which the court viewed this brutal assault on a young girl.
