Ghaziabad Tragedy: Eyewitness Recounts Horrific Moment Three Sisters Fell to Their Deaths
In a heartbreaking incident that has shocked the residents of Ghaziabad's Bharat City housing society, three young sisters fell to their deaths from the ninth floor of their apartment building. The victims, aged 12, 14, and 16, were witnessed by a neighbor who described the horrifying scene in chilling detail.
The Eyewitness Account
Arun Singh, a resident of the tenth floor in the tower facing the girls' apartment, was standing on his balcony around 2 am when he noticed something unusual. "I saw the oldest girl sitting on the ledge of the window that covered their balcony," Arun told The Indian Express. "The sliding panel of the window was open, she was facing the room and had her back towards me. She appeared to be rocking back and forth while sitting on the window frame."
The scene appeared odd and dangerous to him, prompting him to call out to his sister-in-law Aparna, who was visiting. What unfolded next was nothing short of tragic.
The Fatal Moments
"As I watched, it appeared that the second sister was hugging the older sister, and they were rocking together," Arun recounted. "Suddenly, the older sister toppled backwards and fell through the window, and the second sister came with her. The youngest sister, who too was at the window, appeared to lunge forward to catch them, but she too fell through the opening."
Arun and Aparna reported that during their descent, the girls appeared to hit some protruding extensions of flats below theirs, creating loud noises that several residents heard. Police received a call at 2:07 am and quickly arrived at the scene.
The Family's Isolation
According to society residents, the girls' family lived in the flat on rent and maintained minimal interaction with neighbors. Very little was known about the family, who reportedly kept to themselves. Residents mentioned that the girls' father had married twice, with both wives being sisters, though this detail could not be immediately confirmed.
Office-bearers of the society revealed that the girls' father had contacted one of them earlier in the evening regarding the payment of society maintenance dues. This appears to have been the last communication anyone had with any family member.
Aftermath and Investigation
When police and emergency services arrived, the family was seen gathered around the bodies, pale and shaking in apparent shock. "We called an ambulance, which came after about an hour," Aparna said. The bodies were taken away by police, with family members accompanying them.
The flat remained locked when visited by media on Wednesday, adding to the mystery surrounding the tragic incident. The circumstances leading to the sisters being at the open window remain unclear, and authorities continue to investigate the matter.
Community Impact
The tragedy has left the Bharat City housing society in a state of shock and mourning. Residents who knew little about the reclusive family now find themselves grappling with the sudden loss of three young lives. The incident raises questions about:
- The importance of community connections in residential societies
- Safety measures regarding balcony and window security in high-rise buildings
- The need for greater awareness about mental health and family support systems
As investigations continue, the Ghaziabad community mourns the loss of three young sisters whose lives ended in a tragedy witnessed by neighbors but whose stories remain largely unknown.
