In a shocking incident in Ghaziabad, the body of a young man was discovered on an empty plot close to his residence, with police suspecting he was murdered by strangulation using an electric wire. The grim discovery was made in the Ankur Vihar area on Tuesday, sending waves of distress through the local community.
Body Found Just 200 Metres From Home
The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Amar Pal, a resident of Chaman Vihar Colony who worked as a supplier of vehicle spare parts. According to police officials, his body was found barely 200 metres from his own house. The most chilling detail was an electric wire tightly tied around his neck.
Amar's family provided crucial information about his last movements. His father, Ram Singh, who is a halwai (sweet shop owner), informed the police that on Monday night around 9 pm, Amar received a call on his mobile phone and left home, assuring his family he would return shortly. When he did not come back by approximately 10 pm, worried family members tried calling him but found his phone was switched off.
Family's Tragic Discovery and Police Investigation
Launching a frantic search, the family soon made the horrific discovery. They found Amar lying unconscious on an empty plot near their house, the electric wire still around his neck. They immediately untied the wire and, with the assistance of local residents, rushed him to a nearby private hospital. Doctors at the hospital, however, declared him dead on arrival, after which the police were informed.
Surendra Nath Tiwari, DCP (Rural), Ghaziabad, confirmed the details. He stated that clear wire marks were found on Amar's neck, while no other visible injury marks were present on the body. The officer also revealed a critical piece of evidence: the deceased's mobile phone is missing. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Friend Detained After Initial Probe Points to Dispute
The police investigation took a significant turn quickly. DCP Tiwari added that initial inquiries revealed Amar had a fight with a friend a few days prior to the incident. This line of inquiry became the primary focus. A senior police officer elaborated on the suspected sequence of events, stating that the accused friend had called Amar out of his house. The two are believed to have consumed alcohol at a spot some distance from the house, which led to a heated argument. The altercation allegedly culminated in the friend killing Amar.
Acting on this information, the police have detained the suspected friend for questioning. To crack the case swiftly, three special teams have been formed. Investigators are also meticulously examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in the nearby areas to piece together the timeline and gather evidence. The process of formally registering a First Information Report (FIR) is currently underway.
The tragedy has left Amar's family devastated. He is survived by his father Ram Singh, an elder brother named Pradeep who drives an e-rickshaw, and a younger brother, Golu, who is still a student. The family shared that Amar's work involved bringing truck parts from Delhi's Kashmiri Gate and supplying them to various shops.
