Contractor Files Police Report Over Rs 15 Lakh Fraud by Ghaziabad Couple
A contractor from Railbazar has filed a formal complaint with the local police station. He accuses a couple from Ghaziabad of committing fraud and forgery. The alleged scam involves a fake contract for constructing a water tank in Mathura.
Details of the Alleged Fraud
The contractor, Moazzam Khan, states he met Ajay Raghav and his wife Neetu approximately eighteen months ago. They discussed potential partnership work on concrete projects at two railway stations through their firm. During these discussions, the couple promised him a contract to build a water tank in Mathura.
They allegedly took an advance payment of Rs 1 lakh from Khan for this promised contract. Later, they sent him a work order in their company's name via WhatsApp. Khan proceeded with the construction work based on this document.
After completing the work, he submitted his bills for payment. However, he received no response from the couple. Growing concerned, Khan visited the company's office to follow up. It was there he made a shocking discovery.
The Discovery of the Fake Work Order
Upon investigation at the office, Khan found that the work order he received was completely fake. The promised contract for the Mathura water tank did not exist. This realization meant he had performed significant construction work without any legitimate authorization or promise of payment.
The total financial loss from this alleged deception amounts to Rs 15 lakh. This sum represents the costs incurred for labor, materials, and other expenses related to the phantom project.
Police Action and Investigation
Railbazar police station in-charge Jitendra Pratap Singh confirmed the report has been officially registered. Officers are now actively investigating the serious allegations made by the contractor.
The case involves charges of fraud and forgery against the Ghaziabad-based couple. Police will examine the evidence, including the WhatsApp communication and the fake work order. They will also verify the claims about the non-existent water tank construction project in Mathura.
This incident serves as a cautionary tale for contractors and small business owners. It highlights the importance of verifying work orders and contracts thoroughly before commencing any project or making advance payments.
