Tragic Geyser Explosion Claims Life in South Delhi Residential Fire

A devastating fire triggered by an electric geyser explosion resulted in the death of a 50-year-old man and left his wife hospitalized in South Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin area on Friday evening. The incident, which occurred around 5 pm, prompted a swift emergency response from local authorities.

Police Forced Entry to Rescue Trapped Family Members

Upon receiving a distress call through the police control room regarding a fire at a residence in Alvi Chowk, Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin, police personnel rushed to the scene. They discovered the house was locked from the inside, filled with heavy smoke from the blaze. Officers were compelled to forcibly break open the doors to gain access and evacuate all family members safely.

The victims have been identified as Mohammad Sayed Nizami, 50, and his wife, Fida Nizami, 45. Both were found unconscious inside the home, suffering from severe smoke inhalation. Sayed Nizami was located in the bathroom at the time of the geyser explosion, while his wife was elsewhere in the house.

Emergency Response and Medical Treatment

Emergency services, including fire tenders and ambulances, were immediately deployed to the location. The couple was transported to Mool Chand Hospital via ambulance for urgent medical care. Tragically, doctors pronounced Sayed Nizami dead upon arrival. His wife, Fida Nizami, regained consciousness and is currently receiving treatment for her injuries. No other individuals were harmed in the incident.

The fire and emergency services team worked diligently to bring the flames under control, utilizing two fire tenders, two ambulances, and three police control room vans at the site. The blaze was eventually extinguished, preventing further damage or casualties.

Delhi Police officials have confirmed that the fire originated from the explosion of an electric geyser within the home.
