Gas Cylinder Leak Ignites Blaze at Lucknow Biryani Outlet, Two Workers Sustain Burns
A dangerous gas cylinder leak erupted into flames at a biryani shop located in the Sarojininagar area of Lucknow on Tuesday afternoon, according to official statements from the fire department. The incident resulted in two workers suffering minor burn injuries during their attempts to control the sudden fire.
Timeline and Location of the Unfortunate Incident
The fire department confirmed that the blaze broke out at approximately 12:30 PM at a shop operated by Dilshad, also known as Shibu. The establishment is situated directly in front of TSM Hospital within Amausi village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Sarojininagar police station.
Local residents identified the injured workers as Sufiyan (22) and Afzal (23), both hailing from Rampur Mathura in Sitapur district. Notably, the eatery remains closed on Tuesdays as per its weekly schedule. The two individuals were reportedly preparing a meal for themselves when the accident unfolded unexpectedly.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Fire
Preliminary investigations by police authorities indicate that the gas pipe connected to the stove allegedly slipped off, causing a leak from the cylinder. This leak quickly ignited, leading to flames erupting from the cylinder itself. The two workers bravely attempted to extinguish the fire but sustained burn injuries in the process.
Both injured youths were immediately rushed to Civil Hospital for urgent medical attention, where they are currently undergoing treatment for their burns. Their condition is reported to be stable, with medical staff monitoring their recovery closely.
Financial Impact and Owner's Statement
Shop owner Dilshad assessed the damage caused by the fire, estimating the total loss to be around Rs 2 lakh. The blaze not only caused property damage but also disrupted the normal operations of the biryani shop, which is a popular local eatery in the Sarojininagar neighborhood.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of proper gas cylinder safety measures in commercial establishments, particularly in food service businesses where cooking equipment is in constant use. Fire department officials have emphasized the need for regular maintenance of gas connections and adherence to safety protocols to prevent such accidents in the future.
