Perambalur: A gang of six members robbed two youths of their sports bikes at different locations in Perambalur district in the early hours of Thursday.
According to police sources, R Arun, a 20-year-old from Senjeri in Perambalur district, was heading to a petrol bunk near Palayam on his high-end two-wheeler around 3 am. While travelling along the Perambalur-Thuraiyur Road, he was waylaid by a gang on two-wheelers. The gang threatened him at knifepoint and robbed him of his vehicle.
The same gang also targeted M Vinothkumar, a 20-year-old from Vilathikulam in Tuticorin district. He was travelling to Chennai on his two-wheeler when the gang waylaid and robbed him of his vehicle at Vallapuram on the Trichy-Chennai national highway.
Based on the complaints filed by the victims, the Perambalur rural and Mangalamedu police registered cases and are investigating the incidents.
During investigation, police discovered that the gang had abandoned one of the stolen two-wheelers near Mangalamedu after it ran out of fuel. Police retrieved the vehicle and are continuing their investigation.
