Four Lives Lost in Shivamogga Road Accident
A devastating road accident occurred near Bharathipura Cross in the Thirthahalli police station limits. The incident happened on Tuesday evening around 9:30 PM. A car collided with a KSRTC bus, resulting in immediate fatalities.
Two individuals died at the scene. Two more succumbed to their injuries at a private hospital in Shivamogga on Wednesday. The accident involved seven people traveling in the car, including children.
Victims and Survivors
The deceased have been identified as:
- Fatima, aged 70
- Rehan, aged 14
- Rahil, aged 9
- Zayan, aged 12
Fatima and Rehan died on the spot. The injured survivors include Zareena (35), Riha (12), and Jian. They received treatment at Manipal's KMC Hospital.
Accident Details
Police reports indicate the car attempted to overtake a tempo. This maneuver led to a head-on collision with the KSRTC bus. The bus was traveling from Thirthahalli to Shivamogga at the time.
The car was heading towards Sringeri. All occupants hailed from Menase village in Sringeri Taluk.
Authorities registered a case against the car driver. The bus driver filed the initial complaint.

Teacher Dies by Suicide in Balluru School
In a separate tragic incident, a government senior primary school teacher died by suicide. The event took place on the school premises in Balluru, Shikaripura taluk.
It happened on Tuesday. The teacher, Dhananjayappa (51), sent children out of his classroom. He then locked the door from inside.
Discovery and Response
Another teacher noticed something unusual later. This teacher opened a window to check. After seeing the situation, they forced the door open.
Dhananjayappa was rushed to the government hospital in Shikaripura town. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Shivamogga SP B Nikhil confirmed these events.
Background of the Deceased
Dhananjayappa was a native of Jeenahalli in Davanagere district. He had worked at the Balluru school for approximately five years.
He commuted daily from Honnali town. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Police registered a case at the Shikaripura Rural police station. Investigations are ongoing.
