Four Accused Nabbed in Dramatic Wedding Kidnapping Case
In a shocking incident that unfolded during a family celebration, Ranchi police have successfully arrested four individuals from Bihar connected to the kidnapping of a man from his sister's marriage ceremony. The dramatic arrest came just one day after the crime occurred under the jurisdiction of Nagri police station in Ranchi district.
The Kidnapping and Ransom Demand
The nightmare began during what should have been a joyous family occasion. Shiv Shankar Prasad of Bhojpur district filed an official complaint with Nagri police stating that his son, Sumit Soni, had been kidnapped on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. The family had gathered at The Palace Banquet Hall in Nagri for his daughter's marriage function when the unthinkable happened.
Around 2 am, the victim managed to make a desperate phone call to his father, revealing that he had been kidnapped and that his captors were demanding Rs 20 lakh as ransom for his safe release. The call sent shockwaves through the family, turning their celebration into a nightmare.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Acting swiftly on the complaint, SSP Rakesh Ranjan formed a special team to investigate the kidnapping. The police investigation led them to Dobhi in Gaya district of Bihar, where they apprehended all four accused persons.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Narayan Kumar, Sonu Kumar, Sumit Kumar, and Harsh Kumar. According to police records, Sumit Kumar hails from Vaishali district while the other three accused are natives of Bhojpur district in Bihar.
Motive and Crime Details Revealed
During interrogation, the accused made a startling confession about their motive. DSP (headquarters) Arvind Kumar revealed that the kidnappers admitted to committing the crime to recover a loan they had previously given to Soni.
Police investigation uncovered that the criminals had traveled to the wedding venue in a vehicle from Ara in Bihar, specifically targeting Soni during the marriage function. Their well-planned operation involved arriving at the banquet hall, kidnapping Soni, and then making the substantial ransom demand.
The quick action by Ranchi police prevented the situation from escalating further and ensured the safe resolution of the case. The investigation continues as authorities examine all aspects of this brazen kidnapping that disrupted a family's sacred celebration.
