The missing fisherman has been identified as M Dinesh Kumar, a 29-year-old resident of Jeevarathinam Nagar in Kasimedu. According to police reports, Dinesh Kumar had ventured into the deep sea for fishing a few days prior to the incident. He was aboard a boat that departed from the Kasimedu fishing harbour along with twelve other fishermen.
The accident occurred when Dinesh Kumar fell overboard from the fishing vessel. The location was approximately 12 nautical miles off the Chennai coast. Immediately after being alerted, the Kasimedu police registered a formal case and initiated a search and rescue operation to locate the missing man. The efforts to find him are currently ongoing.
Mysterious Body Found Ashore
In an unrelated incident on Thursday, authorities made a grim discovery near the same harbour area. The body of an unidentified man, believed to be around 40 years old, was found washed up on the shore. The body was located beneath a bridge in the old casting area of Kasimedu.
The police have sent the deceased for a postmortem examination to Government Stanley Hospital. A case has been registered regarding this discovery as well. Investigators are now working diligently to establish the identity of the man and determine the circumstances that led to his death. The probe is active, and officials are exploring all angles.
