Lucknow Police Files FIR Against Unidentified Kite Flyer After Man's Throat Injury
In a concerning incident in Lucknow, police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an unidentified kite flyer at the Hussainganj police station. This action comes six days after a 30-year-old man suffered a deep throat injury allegedly caused by a kite string near Maharana Pratap crossing.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred on February 12, when Mushraf Ali, a resident of Chhitwapur, was riding a two-wheeler with his family members towards a Durga temple. According to the FIR lodged on February 17 under section 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to negligent acts endangering human life, a kite string suddenly hit Ali's neck about 200 meters from Maharana Pratap crossing.
Police officials stated that the string, suspected to be sharp and possibly glass-coated manjha, caused a severe cut-like wound on his throat, triggering heavy bleeding. Ali was immediately taken for medical treatment and is currently reported to be in stable condition.
Police Investigation and Response
The complaint was filed by Hussainganj police outpost in-charge Gaurav Singh, with Sub-inspector Shivam Verma assigned to investigate the case. Authorities are actively scanning CCTV footage from traffic intersections, nearby shops, and residential buildings to identify the person flying the kite at the time of the incident.
Officials are also examining whether banned synthetic or Chinese manjha was used in this case, highlighting concerns over the use of hazardous kite strings. A relative of the victim, Irfan, emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "Today it was Mushraf, tomorrow it could be someone else. The person responsible must be identified and punished so that no other family has to go through this trauma."
This incident underscores the dangers associated with kite flying, particularly when prohibited materials like glass-coated manjha are involved. The police's swift action in filing the FIR reflects efforts to address public safety issues and hold negligent individuals accountable under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions.
