Financier Brutally Murdered in Delhi Over Unpaid Loan
On the evening of February 19, a 50-year-old financier named Ajay Kumar met a gruesome end in what police describe as a premeditated and cold-blooded murder. Kumar, known for his polythene bag business and high-interest lending, had arranged to meet two clients, brothers Sonu and Mehboob Ali, outside a restaurant in Prem Nagar, Delhi. Little did he know this routine meeting would turn fatal.
Debt Trap Leads to Deadly Plot
The brothers, aged 24 and 20, had borrowed Rs 4 lakh from Kumar to boost their restaurant business. However, the loan came with a steep 10% monthly interest rate, which quickly spiraled into an unmanageable debt. Unable to repay the mounting sum, the siblings allegedly hatched a plan to kill Kumar just two days before their scheduled meeting. When Kumar arrived to collect the latest installment, he was reportedly lured to their nearby house under false pretenses.
There, Mehboob Ali allegedly attacked Kumar with a heavy, razor-sharp meat cleaver—a tool borrowed from their restaurant kitchen—slitting his throat. The brothers then stuffed his body into a gunny sack and, around midnight, dumped it into the Najafgarh drain near Chandan Vihar, according to police statements.
Police Investigation Uncovers Chilling Details
After Kumar's disappearance, his brother filed a missing person report at the Aman Vihar police station. Inspector Vijay Samaria's team began unraveling the financier's final hours. A breakthrough came four days later through technical surveillance and human intelligence. Ravindra Yadav, Special CP (Law and Order), stated, "Technical surveillance flagged a suspicious figure with a covered face parking Ajay's motorcycle in an abandoned corner of Prem Nagar."
This clue led to the arrest of Sonu and Mehboob Ali, who confessed during interrogation. Rajiv Ranjan, Additional CP (Rohini District), explained, "The brothers led police to the edge of Najafgarh drain. The crime and forensics team inspected the spot, and the sack was eventually pulled out." Kumar's body was sent to SGM Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
