Ferozepur Police Crack Down on Cross-Border Drug Smuggling

Ferozepur police conducted a successful intelligence-led operation on Wednesday night. They busted a cross-border drug smuggling module in the area. The police apprehended two accused individuals during this raid. Officers recovered more than 4 kilograms of heroin from the suspects.

Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh provided specific details about the case. He stated that police received precise intelligence inputs regarding drug smuggling activities. A dedicated police team took immediate action based on this information.

The team, led by the Station House Officer of Mamdot, established a strategic checkpoint. They carefully monitored vehicles and individuals passing through the area. During routine checking procedures, the police intercepted two suspicious persons.

Officers conducted a thorough search of the suspects and their belongings. This search revealed a substantial quantity of heroin weighing over 4 kilograms. Police also impounded a motorcycle that lacked proper registration numbers.

Legal Action and Accused Profiles

Authorities registered a formal case against the arrested individuals. They applied Sections 21 and 61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. This legal action demonstrates the seriousness of the charges.

Police identified the accused as Polas and Jaspreet Singh, who also uses the alias Jassa. Both men reside in Bukhan Khannunder village. Investigators revealed important background information about the suspects.

Polas has a history of criminal activities according to police records. He faced previous charges in three separate criminal cases. These included violations under the Arms Act and the NDPS Act. Jaspreet Singh does not have any known criminal record at this time.

In a related development, authorities made another significant drug seizure nearby. A joint team from Fazilka police and the Border Security Force recovered a drug packet. This packet contained 1.12 kilograms of heroin.

Officers found the drugs close to the international border fence. The location was Chak Tahliwala village under Jalalabad Sadar Police Station jurisdiction. This seizure highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling along border areas.
