Operation and Investigation Insights
Acting on a specific tip-off, police teams launched a special operation in the Jalalabad area. The accused was apprehended near Baghe Ke Uttar village while he was traveling on his motorcycle. Fazilka SSOC Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Naresh Kumar Dogra stated that the preliminary investigation has revealed that the consignment of heroin and weapons was drone-dropped from Pakistan-based smugglers. The intent was to execute criminal activities within the state, highlighting the transnational nature of this threat.
Further investigations are currently underway to unravel the forward and backward linkages of this cartel. Police are working diligently to identify other individuals involved and to trace the full extent of the smuggling network.
Legal Actions Taken
An FIR has been registered against the arrested accused under Sections 21C and 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act at the SSOC police station in Fazilka. These charges reflect the serious nature of the offenses, involving both narcotics and illegal firearms.
This operation marks a critical step in combating cross-border smuggling activities that pose a significant risk to public safety and security in the region. The Fazilka police have emphasized their commitment to continuing such crackdowns to disrupt similar networks in the future.
