The father of a deceased schoolteacher ended a day-long protest on Monday evening after the Bhiwani Superintendent of Police assured the family that a meeting with CBI officials investigating the case would be arranged within a week.
Protest Details and Police Intervention
Sanjay Kumar, accompanied by villagers and supporters, began a march towards the Deputy Commissioner's office in Bhiwani to express resentment over the delay in the CBI investigation into his daughter Manisha's death. Police stopped the march at Kudal Bass village, while another group of supporters managed to reach Bhiwani town, where they also staged a dharna. Later, the protesters in Bhiwani joined Sanjay Kumar at Kudal Bass, where the agitation continued.
In the evening, Bhiwani SP Sumit Kumar and SDM Manoj Dalal held talks with Sanjay Kumar and other protesters. The officials assured them that, since the investigation was being handled by the CBI, the district administration would formally take up the matter with the agency and facilitate a meeting between the victim's family and the investigating officers within a week. The SP said he would make an official communication to the CBI so that the family could be apprised of the status of the ongoing investigation. Following the assurance, the protesters called off the dharna.
Background of the Case
Sanjay Kumar said, "It has been 10 months since my daughter's death, but the CBI has yet to reveal how she died." Manisha, a resident of Dhani Laxman village, had left for duty at a playschool on August 11, 2025, but did not return home. Her body was found in fields near Singhani village on August 13.
The Bhiwani police initially registered a murder case but, on August 18, termed it a case of suicide, triggering widespread protests. As the agitation intensified, a third post-mortem examination was conducted at AIIMS, New Delhi. Subsequently, the investigation was handed over to the CBI on August 26, 2025, after a murder case was registered.
Security Measures and Community Response
Earlier in the day, police had made elaborate security arrangements outside the Deputy Commissioner's office in Bhiwani. The protest drew attention from local villagers and supporters who joined Sanjay Kumar in demanding justice for Manisha. The assurance from the SP provided a temporary resolution, with the family now awaiting the scheduled meeting with CBI officials.
