The Faridkot district police have announced a significant achievement in law and order for the year 2025, reporting a substantial decline in the overall crime rate. According to official data released on Thursday, the district recorded 837 criminal cases in 2025, marking a 31% decrease from the 1,209 cases registered in the previous year, 2024.
Intensified Policing and Strategic Measures
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pragya Jain attributed this notable success to a multi-pronged strategy of intensified policing and targeted crime-control initiatives. The police force adopted a more proactive and aggressive stance against criminal elements, which yielded tangible results across various crime categories.
The data reveals impressive reductions in specific heinous crimes:
- A 19% drop in murder cases.
- Burglaries saw a sharp 45% decline.
- Snatching incidents reduced by 33%.
- Cheating cases decreased by 18%.
Major Blow to Drug Trafficking Networks
A cornerstone of the police's strategy was an unprecedented crackdown on the narcotics trade. The efforts in this domain were dramatically scaled up, leading to 866 drug-related cases in 2025, which is nearly 3.5 times the 249 cases from 2024. In total, 1,334 individuals were arrested in connection with drug offenses.
The most significant operation involved busting a Pakistan-supported drug trafficking cartel. The police arrested two persons and recovered a substantial 12.1 kg of heroin. Investigations revealed that the smugglers were using drones to deliver large consignments of the narcotic into Indian territory.
In a move to cripple the financial backbone of the drug trade, the Faridkot police also initiated proceedings under anti-money laundering laws. After thorough verification of assets acquired through illicit means, properties belonging to drug dealers worth over Rs 4.94 crore were frozen in 2025.
Crackdown on Gangsters and Weapon Seizures
Alongside the war on drugs, the police launched a concerted drive against organized crime and gangster activities. This resulted in the arrest of 22 gangsters and their aides. A key achievement was the recovery of 42 illegal weapons, which officials state is the highest seizure recorded in the district in the last four years.
The year also witnessed six direct encounters between police teams and criminal elements. In each instance, the accused were successfully apprehended following retaliatory action by the police. Furthermore, the force solved five cases of extortion, providing relief to victims targeted by criminals.
The comprehensive data presented by the Faridkot police paints a picture of a district where enhanced vigilance, strategic operations, and a no-tolerance policy towards major crimes like drug peddling and gang violence are delivering measurable improvements in public safety.
