Family Challenges Police Narrative in Lucknow Father Murder Case
In a shocking development from Lucknow, the family of a 19-year-old youth, who was recently sent to jail for the alleged murder of his father, has vehemently questioned the police theory that a career choice spat led to the fatal incident. Instead, relatives assert that the confrontation stemmed from a dispute over missing cash kept at home, escalating when the father slapped his son during the argument.
Police Probe Details of the Fateful Night
According to official statements, law enforcement authorities are investigating whether a major showdown occurred between the father and son on the night of February 19, just hours before the son allegedly shot his sleeping father. SHO Aashiana Chhatarpal Singh confirmed that police are actively collecting statements and seeking evidence to piece together the events.
The argument reportedly ignited over a shortfall in Rs 50 lakh in cash, which the businessman father had kept at home for renewing his liquor license. Police noted that the son had previously come under suspicion when other valuables went missing from the household and were later recovered from his possession.
Escalation and Alleged Retaliation
As the confrontation intensified into a physical scuffle, the father slapped his son and, in a moment of rage, even pointed his licensed rifle at the teenager. Investigators believe this humiliating and enraging episode may have triggered an impulsive act of retaliation, leading to the killing.
However, the aftermath suggests chilling deliberation rather than mere impulse. Family members revealed that the accused initially considered surrendering but changed his mind after an emotional exchange with his younger sister, who witnessed the crime. Traumatized by the incident, she broke down and pleaded with her brother not to surrender, fearing she would be left alone if he went to jail, especially since their mother had died in 2018.
Gruesome Cover-Up and Deception
Investigators state that the accused then decided to cover up the crime. After a friend allegedly refused to assist, he acted alone—purchasing knives, saws, and a plastic drum, dismembering the body, and dumping severed parts nearly 21 kilometers away from his home, near a canal in Nadarganj. The torso was concealed in a drum at home, with plans to dispose of it later using turpentine oil.
In a bid to mislead investigators, the accused even filed a missing person complaint at the Aashiana police station. The body remained hidden in the house for three days, during which the siblings maintained a façade of normalcy—the sister continued appearing for her exams, while both deactivated their social media accounts.
Family and Community Reactions
Despite police outlining a revenge-driven motive, the family has disputed this narrative. The accused's uncle, in a statement to the media, dismissed speculation linking the crime to academic pressure or competitive exams, insisting there was "no such pressure" and suggesting undisclosed factors may have played a role. "The real reason is something else," he said, calling for a comprehensive investigation.
Neighbors and relatives also pointed to possible underlying family tensions, including past domestic disputes. Records indicate that the victim's wife had filed an assault case against him in 2009 and later died by suicide in 2018—raising questions about a troubled family history. The brutal nature of the crime has left neighbors stunned, as they described the family as outwardly normal and the children as well-mannered.
Ongoing Investigation and Official Statements
DCP (Central Zone) Vikrant Vir stated that statements of key witnesses are being recorded and the case remains open. "The accused son's statement was corroborated with circumstantial evidence, which formed the basis of his arrest. Forensic and ballistic reports are awaited. We are examining all possible angles," he said.
The case continues to unfold as authorities delve deeper into the motives and circumstances surrounding this tragic family dispute in Lucknow.
