In a shocking incident in Pochampally, Yadadri-Bhongir district, a conman posing as a Unani doctor committed theft at the residence of a childless woman on Monday. The accused, who remains unidentified, exploited the couple's desire for a child to execute a cunning robbery.
Modus Operandi of the Fraudster
Police reports indicate that the accused visited several houses in Gandhi Nagar, Pochampally, specifically enquiring about childless couples in the area. Claiming to be a Unani doctor, he initially approached one woman who refused his treatment but, at his request, provided information about another childless couple living nearby.
The conman then targeted the complainant, asserting that he possessed a special lotion-form medicine that could help the woman conceive if applied correctly. He instructed the couple to separately go into the washroom and bathe after applying the lotion, with a crucial directive for the woman to leave her valuables outside before entering.
Theft Execution and Police Response
While the husband was in another room, the accused seized the opportunity to steal a 3.5-tola gold chain from the premises and fled the spot. The victims, realizing they had been conned, promptly approached the police and lodged a formal complaint.
