A horrific incident of sexual assault against a minor has shaken the Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped on Saturday afternoon, leading to a dramatic police encounter and the arrest of the accused within hours.
Chocolate Lure and the Heinous Crime
According to the police and the victim's father, the tragic event unfolded on Saturday afternoon. The victim, along with her five-year-old sister, was playing outside their house in the village. The accused, a man from the same locality, approached the children. He lured both girls to his house on the pretext of giving them chocolate.
Once there, he allegedly raped the seven-year-old girl. The traumatized sisters later returned home crying and narrated the entire ordeal to their family members. The family immediately approached the police to lodge a formal complaint.
Swift Police Action and Encounter
Acting promptly on the complaint, the police registered a case and launched a manhunt for the accused. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava detailed the subsequent events. The Basrehar police station received specific information about the accused's location late at night.
A police team zeroed in on the Kalla Bagh intersection and surrounded the suspect. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shrish Chand stated that the accused opened fire at the police personnel. In the ensuing retaliatory action, the police fired back, injuring the accused. He was subsequently apprehended from the spot.
Police officials confirmed the recovery of a country-made pistol and an empty cartridge from the accused. The injured man was rushed to the district hospital for treatment.
Investigation and Aftermath
The investigative process moved swiftly following the arrest. A forensic team, along with Circle Officer (CO) Saifai and SP (Rural) Shrish Chand, visited the crime scene for evidence collection. The young victim's medical examination was also conducted as part of the standard procedure to gather crucial evidence.
The case is under active investigation, and authorities are building a strong charge sheet against the accused. The incident has highlighted concerns over child safety and the prompt response of the Uttar Pradesh Police in nabbing the suspect through a risky operation.
