15-Year-Old Girl Kidnapped and Gang-Raped After Village Fair in Etah District
A shocking incident of kidnapping and gang rape has been reported from Etah district, where a 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted by three men while she was returning home from a village fair. Police officials confirmed the details on Monday, stating that the main accused has been arrested and legal proceedings are actively underway.
Arrest Made, Two Accused Still at Large
Inspector Sanjaypal Singh provided an update on the case, revealing that the arrested accused has been sent to judicial custody. "Efforts are on to arrest the other two accused," Singh emphasized, highlighting the ongoing police investigation to bring all perpetrators to justice.
Sequence of Events as Per FIR
According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by the victim's mother, the minor girl had attended a local fair with her friends on the evening of March 27. While her friends returned home around 9 pm, the survivor did not. When her family grew concerned and called her mobile phone, she informed her mother that a man from their village had offered to drop her home.
Instead, he took her to a deserted location near a canal, where two of his associates were waiting. The trio then allegedly subjected her to a brutal gang rape, as detailed in the police complaint.
Legal Action and Medical Examination
A formal case has been registered under the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), specifically sections 70(2) for gang rape and 137(2) for kidnapping. Additionally, relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have been invoked, given the victim's minor status. The survivor was promptly sent for a medical examination to gather forensic evidence.
In adherence to Supreme Court directives aimed at protecting the privacy of sexual assault survivors, the identity of the victim has not been disclosed. This measure ensures confidentiality and supports the survivor's dignity throughout the legal process.
The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with authorities urging swift action to apprehend the remaining accused. Police are intensifying their search operations and reviewing evidence to ensure a thorough investigation.
