Etah Family Murder: Police Detain Medical Store Owner Kamal Singh as Prime Suspect
Police in Etah have taken Kamal Singh into custody as the prime suspect in the horrific killing of four family members. Investigators believe severe financial pressure ahead of his daughter's wedding may have triggered the brutal attack.
Gruesome Discovery in Kotwali Nagar Home
The crime came to light on Tuesday when Ganga Singh's grandson returned from school around 2 pm. The young boy discovered blood-soaked bodies inside their two-storey home in Kotwali Nagar area. Hearing his cries, neighbors quickly gathered at the scene and alerted the police immediately.
Officers who arrived found a devastating scene. They discovered Shyama Devi still alive and rushed her to hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The other victims had already died at the crime scene.
Victims Identified and Crime Scene Details
Police identified the four victims as Ganga Singh (75), his wife Shyama Devi (70), their daughter-in-law Ratna Devi (42), and granddaughter Jyoti (23). Investigators found Ratna Devi's body on a bed on the second floor of the house. Jyoti and Shyama Devi were lying on the floor, while Ganga Singh's body was discovered on the ground floor.
Preliminary findings suggest the family was attacked with both a brick and a sharp-edged weapon. Police recovered a brick from the crime scene that appears to have been used in the killings.
Financial Pressure Before Wedding
Investigators point to severe financial distress as a possible motive for the crime. Jyoti, the 23-year-old victim, was scheduled to be married in February next month. The family faced acute financial pressure in the run-up to the wedding arrangements.
Kamal Singh, who runs a medical store in the area, had reportedly returned home around 1 pm for lunch on the day of the crime. He left again for his shop shortly afterwards, according to police statements.
Suspect's Attempt to Mislead Investigation
During the investigation, Kamal Singh allegedly tried to mislead police officers. He claimed everything appeared normal when he came home for lunch that day. The suspect also told investigators he later received a call from a relative informing him about the murders.
Police detained Kamal Singh on Tuesday, just one day after the bodies were discovered. The medical store owner now faces serious questioning as investigators piece together the sequence of events leading to the family tragedy.
The Etah police continue their investigation into this heartbreaking case that has shocked the local community. Officers are working to establish the complete timeline and gather all evidence related to the multiple murders.
