Erode Police Crack Gold Theft Case, Arrest Three Suspects

In a swift and decisive operation, the Erode Taluk police have successfully cracked a residential burglary case, leading to the arrest of three individuals, including two women, for stealing gold ornaments weighing 11.5 sovereigns from a house in Moolapalayam.

Details of the Burglary and Investigation

The incident was reported on the night of February 3rd at the residence of Arulkumaran in Moolapalayam, Erode. At the time, the house was unoccupied. Arulkumaran's wife, Hema, promptly lodged a formal complaint with the Erode Taluk police, who registered a case and immediately formed a special investigation team.

This team, led by Inspector M. Saravanan, launched a thorough probe into the burglary. Acting on initial leads and suspicions, the police detained Naveen, also known as Naveenkumar, a 31-year-old resident of Akkarai Kodiveri, for questioning. Naveen had been previously employed by Arulkumaran's neighbor for house painting work.

Confession and Recovery of Stolen Gold

During intensive interrogation, Naveen confessed to breaking into the house and committing the theft. He revealed that he had subsequently handed over the stolen gold ornaments to Vasuki, a 22-year-old woman from Shastri Nagar and wife of Prabhu, with the assistance of her mother-in-law, M. Kuppammal, aged 60 and a resident of Moolapalayam.

The police swiftly summoned both women to the station. Following this, the investigative team successfully recovered all the stolen jewellery from their possession. The recovery was a significant breakthrough in the case, ensuring the stolen property was returned.

Arrests and Judicial Proceedings

Based on the evidence and confessions, the Erode Taluk police formally arrested Naveen, Kuppammal, and Vasuki. The arrested individuals were then produced before a judicial magistrate. The magistrate remanded all three to judicial custody. Subsequently, they were transferred and lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison, pending further legal proceedings.

Police Commendation for Swift Action

District Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha publicly praised Inspector M. Saravanan and the entire special team for their exemplary work. The police were commended for their rapid response, effective investigation, and successful recovery of the stolen gold within just a few days of the robbery being reported. This case highlights the efficiency of the local police force in tackling property crimes and ensuring justice for the victims.
