Eight Criminals Apprehended in Daltonganj for Violent Attack and Kidnapping Scheme

In a significant police operation in Daltonganj, eight individuals with established criminal backgrounds were taken into custody during the late hours of Tuesday and early Wednesday. The arrests were made in connection with a violent assault on a local man and a subsequent attempt to abduct him, as confirmed by law enforcement officials on Wednesday.

Weapons and Evidence Seized in Police Raid

During the apprehension, authorities recovered a substantial cache of weapons and electronic devices from the suspects. Palamu Superintendent of Police Reeshma Rameshan disclosed that the seized items included a 9 mm pistol, a country-made firearm, fifteen rounds of ammunition, and four mobile phones. This recovery underscores the serious nature of the criminal activities involved.

Details of the Accused and Their Alleged Crimes

The arrested individuals have been identified as Saddam, Chotu, Suraj, Ritesh, Wasim, Wasim Akram, Roshan, and Kishu. All of them are reportedly under the age of thirty. According to SP Rameshan, the incident traces back to March 30, when Saddam and his associates launched an attack on Anand Kumar Ravi. The group had allegedly orchestrated a plan to kidnap and eliminate Ravi, but police intervention successfully thwarted the kidnapping attempt. Following the attack, Ravi filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the eight accused, formalizing the charges.

Police Operation and Motive Behind the Attack

The arrests were executed after town police received a critical tip-off indicating that Saddam and his men were attempting to flee Daltonganj. A coordinated road-check drive led to their capture. SP Rameshan elaborated on the motive, stating that Saddam believed Ravi had accepted a contract worth Rs 5 lakh to assassinate him. In a preemptive move, Saddam initiated the attack to neutralize the perceived threat. The root of this violent dispute is linked to a property plot located in Pahari Mohalla, highlighting how local conflicts can escalate into serious criminal endeavors.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts by police in the Palamu region to combat organized crime and ensure public safety. The swift action by authorities not only prevented a potential kidnapping but also led to the seizure of dangerous weapons, mitigating further risks to the community.
