ED Attaches Rs 21 Crore Assets in Mahadev Betting Case

ED Seizes High-Value Assets in Mahadev Betting Probe

The Enforcement Directorate has taken strong action in the Mahadev Online Book betting case. On January 10, the agency issued a provisional attachment order for assets worth more than Rs 21.45 crore. This move targets properties linked to alleged key operators of the illegal betting network.

Luxury Properties and Agricultural Land Attached

An ED spokesperson provided details about the attached assets on Tuesday. The action covers movable assets valued at approximately Rs 98.55 lakh. It also includes 27 immovable properties with a total value around Rs 20.46 crore.

These properties span both India and Dubai. They include luxury apartments, commercial shops, residential houses, and agricultural land. The attachment order falls under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Major Accused and Their Properties

The attached properties belong to several individuals accused of operating the betting network. Ravi Uppal, one of the main promoters who remains absconding, has lost his Dubai property. This apartment in the Atria Ra complex carries a value of about Rs 6.75 crore.

Rajat Kumar Singh, described as a close aide of alleged mastermind Saurabh Chandrakar, also faces property attachment. Investigators say he earned Rs 15 to 20 crore from criminal proceeds. Properties connected to him in Bhilai and Dubai are now under attachment.

Two partners in the operation, Saurabh Ahuja and Vishal Ramani, reportedly operated nearly 100 panels. They earned about Rs 30 crore from the betting network. Their properties in Durg and Bhilai have been attached by the agency.

Vinay Kumar and Honey Singh allegedly ran six panels and conducted fake promotions for the app. They earned Rs 7 crore between them, with each taking Rs 3.5 crore. The ED has attached their residential assets in Jaipur and New Delhi. Their vehicles, including a Mahindra Thar and Toyota Fortuner, are also included in the attachment.

Two more accused face property seizures. Lucky Goyal, accused of handling Telegram-based promotions and generating Rs 2.55 crore, has shops and plots in Rajasthan attached. Raja Gupta, a Dubai-based operator managing 10 panels, has a Raipur property attached.

Wide-Ranging Investigation and Network Structure

The ED initiated its investigation based on multiple FIRs registered by police in Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal. These attachments represent part of a broader crackdown on the multi-state online betting syndicate.

The network operated through websites including Tiger Exchange, Gold365, and Laser247. It followed a franchise-like "panel/branch" model managed by local operators. Alleged masterminds Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal controlled the entire network from Dubai.

Investigators discovered that 70 to 75 percent of profits went to Chandrakar and Uppal. The remaining profits went to panel operators. The proceeds traveled through thousands of 'mule' or 'dummy' bank accounts. These accounts used the KYC details of unsuspecting individuals.

Extensive Actions in the Case

The ED has conducted extensive operations in this case. The agency has searched more than 175 premises so far. It has seized, frozen, or attached assets worth approximately Rs 2,621 crore in total.

The investigation has led to 13 arrests. The agency has named 74 entities as accused across five prosecution complaints. These actions demonstrate the scale of the illegal betting operation and the enforcement response.
