Dubai Police Delegation Explores Bengaluru's Safe City Technologies

A high-level delegation from the Dubai Police, led by Brigadier Turki Bin Fares, the director of the general department of operations, along with seven senior officers, visited the Bengaluru city police headquarters on Monday. The purpose of the visit was to study the implementation of advanced technologies under the Safe City project, focusing on enhancing urban safety and law enforcement strategies.

Comprehensive Tour of Police Infrastructure

The delegation conducted an extensive tour of key facilities, including the police command and control centre, the Namma 112 integrated emergency response platform, and the Traffic Management Centre (TMC). During their visit, the Dubai officers engaged in detailed discussions with Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and other senior officials. These conversations centered on contemporary policing methods adopted in the city, with a particular emphasis on CCTV surveillance networks, analytical tools, and tech-driven law enforcement strategies.

The team assessed the city's public safety infrastructure, notably the command room equipped with CCTV surveillance and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems. They also reviewed Namma 112, Bengaluru's centralized emergency helpline that connects citizens to police, fire brigade, and ambulance services, highlighting its efficiency in emergency response.

Focus on Traffic and Urban Mobility

Later, the delegation visited the TMC to observe traffic surveillance infrastructure and operational strategies. They examined intelligent transportation systems, live traffic monitoring, and digital solutions designed to address mobility challenges in Bengaluru, a rapidly expanding metropolis. Commissioner Singh noted that the Dubai delegation appreciated Namma 112's quick response time and the use of technology in reducing crime rates.

He explained, "The conditions are different in Dubai and Bengaluru — infrastructure, population, and other factors. But they wanted to study how we manage a large population and crime. They chose Bengaluru because it is an IT city and globally recognised."

Appreciation for Safety Initiatives

A senior officer added that the delegates also expressed admiration for specific safety measures implemented in Bengaluru. These included:

  • Safety islands designed for women and child safety.
  • Effective crowd management strategies during New Year celebrations.

The exchange enabled both police forces to share valuable insights on urban safety strategies, emergency response frameworks, and traffic management technologies, fostering international collaboration in law enforcement.
