Delhi University Student Among Five Arrested in Mangolpuri Stabbing Murder Case

New Delhi: In a shocking incident of street violence, a 25-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of youngsters in Outer Delhi's Mangolpuri area on Wednesday evening. The brutal attack, captured on CCTV footage, shows the victim being chased and attacked in front of numerous onlookers who failed to intervene.

Police Swiftly Arrest DU Student and Four Minors

Delhi Police have made significant progress in the investigation, arresting a 19-year-old Delhi University student and apprehending four minors in connection with the case. The victim, a resident of Mangolpuri, worked alongside his father at a local food cart, making this tragedy particularly devastating for the family.

Police received a PCR call around 7 pm and arrived at the scene to find the young man lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Chilling CCTV Footage Reveals Frantic Chase and Brutal Attack

A one-minute CCTV clip from the incident reveals a frantic chase that ended with the man being cornered and stabbed repeatedly at a residential entrance. Several bystanders watched the unfolding violence but did not intervene to help the victim.

The footage shows an elderly man appearing with a stick only after the attackers had fled the scene. According to police reports, the victim tried desperately to seek refuge in a nearby house but was intercepted at the gate and stabbed approximately a dozen times.

The assailants then dragged him back into the lane and continued their brutal assault before finally escaping from the location.

Eyewitness Account Points to Jealousy as Possible Motive

A 24-year-old friend who was with the victim at the time of the attack told authorities they were at a park with another friend when the group approached them. "They attacked two of them. While one managed to escape, they caught hold of the other," he explained.

The friend, who served as an eyewitness to the horrific incident, alleged that jealousy might have been the primary motive behind the attack. He further claimed that the accused acted on instructions from an acquaintance who is currently in jail.

Police Investigation Uncovers Revenge as Primary Motive

Based on CCTV footage analysis and extensive local inquiries, outer district police subsequently apprehended three minors, while the Crime Branch arrested the Delhi University student and nabbed another minor.

During interrogation, police said the accused told investigators that the killing was an act of revenge. They claimed the victim had set fire to a friend's house approximately five months ago and had been bullying them consistently since that incident.

The investigation continues as authorities work to establish the complete sequence of events and determine if there were additional factors contributing to this tragic loss of life in the national capital.
