Drunk Women Trigger Violent Street Brawl in Bengaluru Following Scooter-Taxi Collision
A shocking incident of public disorder unfolded in Bengaluru on Saturday night when two women, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, sparked a violent physical confrontation after their scooter crashed into the rear of a taxi. According to reports from local authorities cited by News18, the altercation began as the pair were returning home from a social gathering at a friend's residence.
From Verbal Dispute to Physical Violence
The conflict ignited when the taxi driver, identified as Ahmed in the formal complaint, questioned the women about the collision. What started as a verbal disagreement rapidly escalated into a full-blown physical assault. Witnesses reported that the intoxicated women began shouting insults at the driver before launching a physical attack using a helmet as a weapon.
The situation deteriorated further when bystanders attempted to intervene and calm the chaos. Police statements indicate that these Good Samaritans also became targets of the women's aggression. Onlookers alleged that the assailants wrapped a metal chain around their fists to strike the driver during the intense brawl.
Social Media Footage Captures Chaotic Scene
Viral videos circulating on social media platforms depict the disturbing scene with graphic clarity. The footage shows the two women screaming profanities at gathered onlookers while making offensive hand gestures. Some individuals in the crowd can be seen and heard shouting back at the women in response to their provocative behavior.
One particularly alarming video clip captures a moment where one of the women kicks men who were trying to physically restrain her and prevent further violence. The hostile conduct reportedly continued even after police arrived at the scene, with recordings showing one woman continuing to hurl insults and make lewd gestures from inside a police van as a crowd watched the unfolding drama.
Police Response and Investigation
Following the incident, Bengaluru police filed an official case and detained the two suspects, who have been identified as Lisa and Matthew. Authorities have confirmed that an active investigation is currently underway to establish the complete timeline of events and determine the severity of any injuries sustained during the violent clash.
This incident follows another recent alcohol-related traffic mishap in Bengaluru, where in January, an intoxicated driver jumped a road divider and slammed his vehicle into a restaurant wall in the Indiranagar locality. That accident, captured on CCTV and widely shared on social media, involved a Skoda sedan driven by 42-year-old Derrick Tony, who was traveling at excessive speeds while under the influence of alcohol.
In that previous incident, the car struck a two-wheeler before crashing into the exterior wall of a Barbeque Nation outlet, causing significant structural damage. While a group of diners standing outside narrowly avoided injury, the motorcyclist, identified as Jabir Ahmed, sustained minor injuries and required hospital treatment. Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded in either of these alcohol-related incidents.
