Driver Testimony Reveals Forced Car Journey
In a shocking revelation, the driver of the car that transported Siya to Mumbai airport has stated that her brother forced her into the vehicle. The driver, identified as Ramesh, told police that on the evening of June 28, Siya's brother, Ketan, approached him for a ride to the airport. According to Ramesh, Siya appeared distressed and reluctant, but Ketan physically pushed her into the back seat.
Ramesh further disclosed that during the 45-minute drive from their residence in Thane to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Siya remained silent and avoided eye contact. He noticed she was crying but did not intervene due to fear. The driver has been questioned by the crime branch as a key witness.
Alleged Kidnapping at Airport
Siya, a 22-year-old college student, was reported missing by her parents on June 29 after she failed to return home. CCTV footage from the airport showed her being escorted by two unidentified men into a private vehicle shortly after arriving. Ketan was arrested on July 1 on charges of abduction and criminal conspiracy. Police suspect the involvement of a human trafficking ring.
According to police sources, Siya's brother had been in contact with a known trafficker based in Dubai. The trafficker allegedly promised Ketan a large sum of money for delivering Siya. The driver's statement corroborates the forced nature of her departure.
Investigation Progress
Mumbai Police have formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the case. They have recovered Siya's phone, which was found discarded near the airport. Forensic analysis reveals deleted messages between Ketan and an unknown number. Authorities are working with Interpol to track the trafficker.
Siya's parents have appealed for her safe return. Her mother, speaking to reporters, said, "We never imagined our own son could do this. We just want our daughter back safely." The family has offered a reward of Rs 5 lakh for any information leading to Siya's recovery.
