In a case that seems straight out of the Bollywood thriller Drishyam, Ahmedabad police have uncovered a chilling murder where a man's body was buried beneath the floor of his own house, allegedly by his wife's lover.
The gruesome discovery was made in the Ghatlodia area of Ahmedabad, where 35-year-old Pradip Bhavsar had been missing since December 2023. What initially appeared to be a missing person case took a dramatic turn when police investigation revealed a web of deception and cold-blooded murder.
The Missing Person Case That Turned Sinister
According to police reports, Pradip's family had filed a missing complaint after he suddenly disappeared. However, investigators grew suspicious when they noticed inconsistencies in the statements provided by his wife, Rinku, and her behavior during questioning.
"During investigation, we found that Rinku was in a relationship with another man, identified as Vishal Thakor," said a senior police official. "This raised serious questions about Pradip's disappearance."
The Gruesome Discovery
The investigation took a shocking turn when police, acting on specific information, began excavating the floor of Pradip's own house. Beneath the concrete, they discovered his decomposed body, buried in a manner chillingly similar to the plot of the popular film Drishyam.
Forensic examination confirmed the identity of the body and revealed that Pradip had been murdered before being buried under the house where he once lived.
The Love Triangle and Murder Plot
Police have arrested Vishal Thakor, Rinku's alleged paramour, who has confessed to the crime. According to the confession, Thakor murdered Pradip to eliminate him from the picture and continue his relationship with Rinku undisturbed.
"The accused planned the murder meticulously, choosing to bury the body within the house itself to avoid detection," the investigating officer stated. "They believed no one would think to look for the body right under their noses."
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Ahmedabad police have charged both Rinku and Vishal Thakor with murder, destruction of evidence, and conspiracy. The court has remanded Thakor to police custody for further investigation.
"This case shows how reality sometimes mirrors cinema," commented a criminal psychologist familiar with the case. "The perpetrators apparently drew inspiration from crime thrillers, underestimating the thoroughness of police investigation."
The case has sent shockwaves through the Ghatlodia neighborhood, where residents expressed disbelief that such a gruesome crime could occur in their community. Police continue to investigate whether any others were involved in the crime or its cover-up.
