Ballia Doctor Arrested for Alleged Negligence in Tragic Deaths of Mother and Stillborn Twins
In a distressing incident from Uttar Pradesh, the Ballia police have taken into custody a doctor accused of medical negligence that resulted in the deaths of a mother and her stillborn twin baby girls. The arrest follows a formal complaint filed by the grieving husband, who alleged that improper treatment at Purvanchal Hospital led to this heartbreaking outcome.
Details of the Complaint and Police Action
According to official police reports, the complainant submitted a written statement on January 13, 2024. He stated that he had admitted his wife to Purvanchal Hospital, where she underwent an operation and delivered stillborn twin daughters. Initially, Dr. Aditya Singh, the attending physician, declared the woman's condition as stable and fine.
However, the situation took a tragic turn shortly afterward. Dr. Singh later informed the family that the patient had suffered a sudden heart attack. She was hastily referred to a medical facility in Mau and placed in an ambulance for transfer. Shockingly, it was revealed that she had already passed away before the ambulance departed the hospital premises.
The complaint explicitly attributed the deaths of all three individuals—the mother and the twin infants—to gross negligence in medical treatment by Dr. Aditya Singh. Based on these allegations, the Kotwali police station in Ballia district registered a case under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Investigation and Arrest of the Accused Doctor
Following the registration of the case, an investigation was launched by the Ballia police. On March 29, 2024, Sub-Inspector Saurabh Kumar Singh led a team in searching for the accused doctor. Dr. Aditya Singh, a resident of Kasba Bairiya, was subsequently located and taken into police custody.
Legal proceedings have been formally initiated against him, and he is now facing serious charges under the relevant sections of the law. The police have confirmed that the investigation is actively ongoing to gather further evidence and details surrounding the circumstances of the deaths.
This case has highlighted critical concerns regarding medical accountability and patient safety in the region. The community and authorities are closely monitoring the developments as the legal process unfolds, emphasizing the need for stringent oversight in healthcare practices to prevent such tragedies in the future.
