Chennai: North Chennai DMK MP Kalanidhi Veeraswamy’s son and three others, including a DMK councillor, have been booked by Anna Nagar police for property fraud, criminal intimidation and caste-based abuse.

The first information report (FIR) named the suspects as Kalanidhi Veeraswamy’s son Siddharth, who is managing director of a private company, Rani Ravichandran, councillor of ward 102 in Anna Nagar, Asaithambi, an assistant to the MP, and Adhinarayanan of Virudhunagar district.

The case was registered on a complaint filed by Anbarasu, 67, of Karur district.

The four have been booked for offences punishable under Sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s) and 3(2)(va) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

According to the complaint, the accused obtained a Power of Attorney deed from Anbarasu in connection with a property transaction but failed to pay the agreed consideration amount.

The complainant further stated that he was subjected to caste-based verbal abuse and criminal intimidation during the dispute.

Police sources said the complaint was related to a property comprising 14 grounds of land and a building on Anna Salai.

The complainant claimed that the property was mortgaged with a bank and that he was deceived in the transaction.
