Disabled Elderly Couple's Home Burglarized Near Trichy Airport, Gold Ornaments Stolen
In a distressing incident near Trichy airport, miscreants targeted the rented residence of a differently-abled elderly couple, making off with two sovereigns of gold ornaments. The couple, identified as K Karthikeyan, 62, and his wife, were fortunately not at home during the burglary, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
Details of the Incident
Karthikeyan is physically disabled, while his wife is visually impaired. The couple had left their home in Anna Nagar to visit a bank located in KK Nagar. Upon returning approximately an hour later, they were met with a scene of intrusion.
They discovered that their house locker had been forcibly opened, and the gold ornaments stored inside were missing. Further inspection revealed that the locks on the rear entrance of the house had also been broken, indicating the point of entry used by the perpetrators.
Police Response and Investigation
Based on a complaint filed by Karthikeyan, the airport police have taken swift action. On Thursday, they registered a case under sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The investigation is currently underway, with authorities working to gather evidence and identify the suspects involved in this heartless crime against vulnerable individuals.
