Dhanbad Judges Lead March Against Drug Abuse, Urge Youth to Say No
Dhanbad Judicial Officers March for Drug-Free Society

In a significant push for social reform, judicial officers from the Dhanbad civil court took to the streets on Monday to rally public support against the menace of substance abuse. The awareness march was organized as part of the "DAWN" initiative run by the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JSLSA), aiming to foster a drug-free and healthier community.

Marching for a Cause: From Court to Community

The foot march commenced from the court premises, weaving through prominent nearby localities before circling back to conclude at the court complex. A large contingent of judicial officers and court officials participated actively, holding banners and posters with powerful slogans decrying drug addiction. The visual campaign successfully captured the attention of passers-by and local residents, initiating conversations about the dangers of narcotics.

Voices from the Bench: Highlighting the Devastation of Addiction

Addressing the gathering, Principal District and Sessions Judge Bal Krishna Tiwari delivered a stern warning about the multifaceted ruin caused by drug addiction. He emphasized that it devastates not just an individual's physical and mental health but also erodes the foundation of families and society at large.

"Substance abuse often leads to crime, domestic violence, and economic distress, making it a serious social challenge that requires collective efforts to combat," Judge Tiwari stated. He made a heartfelt appeal to citizens, particularly the youth, to remain vigilant and resist the lure of drugs to secure their future.

JSLSA's Holistic Mission: Legal Awareness and Social Fight

District Legal Services Authority Secretary-cum-Civil Judge Mayank Tushar Topno elaborated on the broader mission of the JSLSA. He clarified that the authority's work extends beyond promoting legal literacy to actively combating social evils like drug addiction. Judge Topno stressed that grassroots awareness campaigns, such as this march, are vital for sensitizing the community and encouraging widespread participation in the cause of social reform.

The initiative underscored the judiciary's proactive role beyond the courtroom, stepping into the community to lead by example in the fight against a pressing social issue. The march served as a potent reminder that building a drug-free society is a shared responsibility demanding vigilance and action from every citizen.
