Dhanbad Civil Court Evacuated Following Bomb Threat Email
A bomb threat email sent to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar regarding the Dhanbad civil court complex on Wednesday morning triggered an immediate high-alert response from local authorities. The alarming message prompted a swift evacuation of the entire premises, as police sealed all entry and exit points to ensure public safety.
Mass Evacuation and Intensive Search Operation
Advocates, court employees, litigants, and visitors were urgently escorted out of the complex following the threat. Many individuals were forced to abandon their files and personal belongings inside the buildings due to the sudden evacuation order. Advocate Sudha Mishra recounted, “Around 11 am, police instructed everyone to leave immediately, forcing many to abandon files and personal belongings inside.” Barricades were quickly erected around the area to cordon off the site.
Bomb disposal squads, accompanied by sniffer dogs, conducted a thorough search operation across the court complex. During the sweep, a remote-like device was discovered inside a lawyer’s vehicle parked on the premises. Security personnel immediately isolated the object, which later turned out to be a harmless TV remote kept for repair, adding to the tension but ultimately proving non-threatening.
Threat Details and Official Response
Radheshyam Goswami, president of the Dhanbad Bar Association, confirmed that the administration had received specific information about a possible bomb in the 28-Track Court building. After several hours of meticulous searching, no explosives or suspicious materials were found, leading authorities to declare the threat a hoax.
SSP Prabhat Kumar stated, “Cyber and technical teams are working diligently to identify the sender of the email. Strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for causing panic and disrupting court proceedings.” Police have launched a detailed investigation to trace the origin of the email and apprehend the culprits behind this alarming incident.
Pattern of Similar Hoax Threats in Jharkhand
This incident is not isolated, as similar bomb threats have recently targeted other key locations in Jharkhand. On February 4, the Ranchi civil court received a comparable threat, followed by another at the district collectorate on February 12. Both cases were also confirmed as hoaxes and remain under active investigation by police. The recurrence of such threats highlights ongoing security challenges and the need for enhanced vigilance in public institutions.
The Dhanbad bomb scare has underscored the importance of robust emergency protocols and the critical role of law enforcement in maintaining public order. As the probe continues, authorities are urging citizens to remain calm and report any suspicious activities promptly to prevent future disruptions.
