Delivery executive dies in Gurgaon hit-and-run accident

A young delivery executive, who had recently moved to Gurgaon in search of a better livelihood, lost his life in a tragic hit-and-run accident on a major city road. The incident has once again highlighted the perils faced by gig economy workers and the menace of reckless driving on urban streets.

Details of the Tragic Incident

The fatal accident occurred late on Wednesday night, around 11 pm, on the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) near the Maruti Suzuki Pasco showroom close to Sector 75. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Nilesh from Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh, was riding his motorcycle when an unidentified vehicle struck him with great force.

In a callous act, the driver of the offending vehicle did not stop to help the grievously injured man. Instead, the vehicle fled the spot immediately after the collision, leaving Nilesh critically wounded on the roadway. The speed and nature of the impact suggest the vehicle was moving at a high speed.

Victim's Background and Police Response

Nilesh had moved to Gurgaon only recently, driven by the hope of finding employment. He had secured a job as a delivery executive less than a month before the tragedy struck. At the time of the accident, he was living in a rented accommodation in Narsinghpur.

Upon receiving information about the accident, a team from the Kherki Daula police station rushed to the location. They found Nilesh lying on the road with severe injuries. Despite their efforts, he was declared dead at the scene by the time help arrived. The police have registered a case and have launched a search to trace the unidentified vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.

Aftermath and Ongoing Investigation

The police have informed the family members of the deceased about the heartbreaking incident. The case underscores the critical need for enhanced road safety measures, stricter enforcement against hit-and-run offenders, and better protection for two-wheeler riders, who are among the most vulnerable on Indian roads.

Investigators are now examining CCTV footage from cameras in the vicinity of Sector 75 and the Southern Peripheral Road to identify the vehicle that caused the accident. The Gurgaon police have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the accused driver.
