Multiple Delhi Schools Targeted by Hoax Bomb Threats, Sparking Panic

New Delhi witnessed a wave of panic on Monday as at least 15 schools across the city received hoax bomb threat emails, unsettling students, parents, and school authorities alike. The alarming situation triggered an immediate and robust response from security agencies to ensure public safety.

Prominent Institutions Among the Targeted Schools

The targeted institutions included several well-known schools, heightening concerns. Among them were:

  • Delhi Public School (DPS) in Rohini
  • Loreto Convent School located in Delhi Cantt
  • Cambridge School situated in Srinivaspuri
  • Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini
  • The Indian School in Sadiq Nagar
  • Sardar Patel Vidyalaya (SPV) in Lodhi Estate

This widespread targeting underscored the severity of the threat and the need for swift action.

Immediate Security Response and Evacuations

As a precautionary measure, teams from local police stations were rapidly deployed to the affected campuses. They were joined by specialized units, including K9 squads and bomb detection and disposal teams, to conduct thorough inspections.

According to police reports, the email contained a menacing message warning that "Delhi will become Khalistan." In response, school buildings were promptly evacuated, and comprehensive anti-sabotage checks were carried out to safeguard students and staff.

Details of the Threat and Subsequent Confirmation as Hoax

The threatening email was reportedly received around 7:22 AM. The sender claimed that an explosion would occur at approximately 1:11 PM on Monday and also alleged that Parliament would be targeted on February 13 at the same time.

Several schools proactively informed parents via email about the threat and the ongoing precautionary checks. Authorities later confirmed that the messages were a hoax, providing much-needed relief to the concerned community.

Recurring Pattern of Similar Incidents

This incident follows a troubling pattern, as last month, multiple schools in Delhi had received similar bomb threat emails, leading to widespread panic and heightened security measures across the city.

Sources indicated that the latest message also claimed that blasts would occur at three to four schools in Chandigarh, suggesting a possible coordinated effort to create disruption.

The repeated nature of these hoaxes highlights ongoing security challenges and the importance of vigilance in educational institutions.
