New Delhi: In a significant crackdown, Delhi Police apprehended a close associate of the Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang during a specialised operation in Dwarka on Sunday. Multiple illegal firearms and ammunition were recovered from his possession. According to officials, the accused is linked to an extortion racket.
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team laid a trap and successfully nabbed the suspect. An illegal automatic pistol, a single-shot pistol, and live cartridges were seized. The accused is believed to be an arms supplier and a key figure in the gang's operations.
Earlier Arrest in East District
Earlier in April, the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the East District arrested an individual for illegal possession of arms. Acting on real-time intelligence, the team apprehended the accused before he could commit any crime. A country-made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered.
During interrogation, the suspect revealed his association with the 'Chenu Gang' and disclosed that he provided logistical support to its members. He was in contact with Shezad, an active robber involved in several recent incidents. Shezad was arrested on March 22, 2026, by Shahdara District Police and is currently on police remand.
Investigation Underway
The accused admitted he was roaming the area with the intention of committing a robbery at gunpoint, which was thwarted by timely police action. A case under FIR No. 199/26 dated April 1, 2026, under Section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered at PS New Ashok Nagar. Further investigation is ongoing.
